Visit of Reignac Castle and tasting of 4 wines
Direction Entre-deux-Mers for the visit of the castle of Reignac, a magnificent property rewarded by the most prestigious award of wine tourism, the Best of Wine Tourism 2015 and 2016, and whose legendary wine outclasses the greatest wines during blind tastings. You will walk in the vineyards with the owners to discover their exceptional terroir.
The authenticity of this castle, its cellar, its landscapes, its charm, its incredible tower and its green park will leave you the memory of an exceptional moment.
The tour ends with a tasting of 4 wines: Reignac blanc, Château de Reignac, great wine of Reignac and Balthus.
Then head to the picturesque village of Saint Emilion. If the wine region of Saint-Emilion is exceptional, it is thanks to the great variety of its terroirs.
Thus, the variety of its wines is explained by a remarkable geological diversity (limestone soil, clay-limestone, gravelly and sandy) and a microclimate perfectly suited to viticulture.
Once arrived, you will have lunch in the village of Saint-Emilion (menu with 3 courses excluding drinks). You will then discover a small family farm of 25 hectares known for four generations for the quality of its wines grown in respect of tradition and soil. Welcome to Château Pipeau, at the foot of Saint-Emilion, to taste the first wine and the second wine of the wine estate. Before leaving these beautiful hilly and vine covered landscapes, we invite you to visit the Villemaurine castle and its underground quarries dug in the clay and limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion.
Château Villemaurine has an unsuspected network of careers that you will explore in an original way. Accompanied by a guide and his lantern, nestled in a plain, you will sink into the depths of careers that extend over 7 hectares and 4 levels under the vineyards of the castle.
Thanks to lighting and unusual sounds, the visitor will learn both the geology of the limestone soil of the great wines of Saint-Emilion, listen to the legend of the monk Emilion founder of the village, discover the work of the quarrymen, travel through the region.
History of the domain from the eighth century to the present day. Finally, you will discover the monolithic cellar where the great wines of the castle are aging, as well as the technical installations of the property.
The visit ends with a tasting of two wines from the Château Villemaurine.
Return to your accommodation at the end of the day.
There is one thing that has long been sure: Bordeaux is the world wine capital. But since 2007, the city has also been listed as a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) World Heritage Site.
A distinction that the city known as “Sleeping Beauty” shares with two other outstanding sites in Gironde: the Saint-Emilion wine area and Blaye Citadel. Gems to discover during a short break.
Spend four days enjoying the Bordeaux Wine Festival and visit the world’s most famous wine area !
