From 24 May to 3 June 2019, put on your sailor's outfit and come and celebrate the river in Bordeaux! For the tenth time, the association Bordeaux Grands Evénements is preparing to celebrate the Garonne River and the quays that serve as its backdrop. France’s last three-masted ship, the Belem, will be moored at the main pontoon and open to visitors during the event.
This 3-day short break, which takes place during Bordeaux River Festival, offers the opportunity to experience the event from the water by embarking on board boats on the Garonne and in the Bay of Arcachon. An atmosphere of celebration and spectacular views guaranteed for the appreciation of unique architecture and buildings listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Begin by enjoying the celebratory atmosphere on the Bordeaux quays. Embark for a lunch cruise on the Garonne River. The view from the boat will give you a full appreciation of the River Festival, while tasting regional cuisine.
In addition to the boat trip, a bus tour of the city will give you an overview of the largest collection of buildings listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Then you can wander around on foot as you please in the old quarter. You will be made to feel welcome at the starred hotel, located in a quiet street a stone's throw from the celebrations, in a setting characterised by charm and authenticity.
Watch the spectacular start of the Solitaire du Figaro sailing race in the Bordeaux-Pauillac prologue.
For lunch, we suggest you enjoy a meal on a terrace on the quays, before leaving yourself free time to go shopping or visit the city's monuments and museums.
Save some energy for the evening’s celebrations with a magnificent firework display which you can watch from the quays. Spend the night in the same hotel.
To end your break with a river and boat theme, we suggest you explore the Bay of Arcachon and its breath-taking seascapes.
You will embark on a gourmet food cruise to the most beautiful sites in the bay: Île aux Oiseaux, the cabanes tchanquées (huts on stilts), etc.
To end the adventure, take the time to follow the Cornice road to enjoy the incredible views offered by Pilat Dune, with a reputation as the highest in Europe.
Visit the Landes between the Atlantic coast and the Pyrenees: an unspoilt environment and land of traditions.
Discover past and present-day Bordeaux through its most beautiful monuments and museums.
